Parkrose High School sports teams could be playing in a new league in 2010 under the Oregon School Activities Association's latest reclassification proposal.
In 2006, Parkrose became part of the 5A-2 Northwest Oregon Conference, along with teams in Hillsboro, Sherwood and Wilsonville. Parkrose teams have been traveling to Washington County and Clackamas County to play, rather than playing other nearby teams, because of the school's smaller size compared to other high schools in the area.
The new league would also include Milwaukie, Putnam, Sandy, Molalla, Hood River and The Dalles. Teams would still be traveling to other counties to play, but all of these schools are at least on the east side of the Portland area (although further out in the case of Hood River and The Dalles).
Before 2006, Parkrose was part of the Mt. Hood Conference, along with nearby schools like David Douglas, Centennial, Reynolds, Gresham, and Barlow. Changes to the classification system put Parkrose in a different division (the Mt. Hood Conference is all division 6A schools with higher populations).
